‘People flakes’ are people who always cancel on you: any plans you make with them never happen. In a recent post I described these people as ‘half people’ because it seems to me they engage in this kind of behaviour to push away potential connections with other people. However, I then came across this old video I had forgotten about in which I give a different reason for their flakiness. In the video I say that the reason for people flakes being so unreliable is because of a communication breakdown between us. As direct people who are able to say ‘no’, we don’t pick up on their weak, hinting invitations. Similarly, we don’t get it when they indirectly refuse our invitations. To us it seems like they don’t want to be our friends, but maybe their invitations are passing below our radars and we don’t even hear them?

So what do you reckon? Do the people flakes cancel on us because they don’t want to get close to us? Or is it due to a breakdown in communication? Share your thoughts in a comment…
